Supports commercial lines (CL) operational and underwriting processes within guidelines by handling a variety of complex transactions and policy changes that support the review and acceptance/decline of new or renewal CL business. On behalf of underwriters and sales producers, serves as a primary contact for customers and/or agents/brokers. Compiles and/or shares policy and coverage information for assigned agencies/brokers. Ensures proper documentation and records management according to regulatory and Sentry standards and acts as a resource to less experienced members of the team and other Sentry business units. Job Description What You'll Do As an Underwriting Support Specialist, you'll work closely with regional underwriters and independent agents, as well as others within the operations support units, to ensure service and quality objectives are met. In addition, you'll: Work on underwriting assignments such as loss and risk exposure documentation using manuals, established procedures, and collected information. Receive and respond to phone calls and emails from agents, brokers, and underwriters regarding questions on new business and renewal policies/accounts, as well as policy changes. Process policy change requests, renewals, and some new business within knowledge and authority levels. Utilize Sentry's case management system to track and document your work, as well as to provide metrics on case completions. Strive to achieve or exceed all service level agreements to provide outstanding service delivery to Sentry's agents and shared customers. What It Takes: Associate Degree or equivalent work experience. 1-3 years of related work experience. This is position will only be filled within the Charlotte, NC office. Knowledge of underwriting systems and/or various software applications preferred. Insurance courses related to property and casualty insurance, such as IIA and CPCU beneficial.
