LOCATION: US0 Greenville Facility
MISSION
For industrial investment projects within its scope, provides the
equipment needed to achieve the project objectives at the best
performance / cost ratio, using the standards.
Lead the pre-studies to define the most effective solutions.
Manage the design or integration by respecting the best practices
of its business (internal, external standards, quality system,
capitalization, archiving) in collaboration with all the relevant
professions.
Pilot the realization, installation and commissioning.
KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS
--- Feasibility studies are carried out with challenged and
validated CDCs, the possible solutions are evaluated from the point
of view of costs, deadlines, risks, functional choice criteria.
--- Integration studies are conducted in cooperation with other
businesses.
--- Change requests are managed according to the DE / Release
process.
--- The quality system and the methods of his/her group are
implemented (risk analyzes, FMEA, design reviews, quality planning,
DTE, treatment of NC, ...).
--- Validations (CI, RF, RC) are obtained after the phases of
realization, installation, start-up and development of the
equipment made in collaboration with related metiers of the
industry.
--- Prototype projects managed by the process development teams are
supported.
--- "as built" folders up to date.
Specific position requirements:
1. Provide Mechanical Engineering design for assigned projects
including machine specification, sizing and selection, mechanical
part, assembly and schematic drawings, layout drawings, components
specification, sizing and selection, bill of materials and complete
machine documentation package for life of machine (dossier).
2. Respect Michelin mechanical design standards in all equipment
designs.
3. Create budget estimates and bid packages on assigned
projects.
4. Provide project documentation: mechanical designs, technical
offer, safety risk assessment, maintenance & operator training
documents and user manuals.
5. Facilitate the procurement of equipment and materials for
assigned projects.
6. Provide equipment acceptance inspections on equipment that comes
into the plant.
7. Management of mechanical contractors or maintenance installation
teams during equipment modifications & machine installations
through start-up and commissioning.
8. Provide liaison between facility engineering, central quality,
methods and purchasing teams, and equipment suppliers to assure
good mutual system requirement understanding.
9. Project support, especially during installation, start-up and
ramp up phases, is often "on-site" and "hands on", and many
projects include implementation schedules during holidays and
shutdowns. Travel expectations are typically up to 30% of time over
the course of a year, however the travel requirement is often not
evenly distributed throughout the year. Depending on project
assignments, travel percentage can exceed 30%
Mechanical engineering technical skills and experience
required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
technical education and experience.
2. Preferred 3 years of engineering experience.
3. Willing to travel 30-50% domestic and some international (mainly
USA, Mexico and Canada)
4. Experience with mechanical design standards; OSHA, ASME, ANSI,
ISO, etc.
5. Mechanical design tools; Solidworks is required, AutoCAD or
Draftsight 2D is preferred.
6. Experience with document management systems (PLM) is required,
Team Center is preferred.
7. Experience with mechanics of materials, stress analysis and FEA
is preferred.
8. Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, piping and fitting is
required.
9. Experience with lifting devices, cranes, jibs, below the hook
devices and end-effectors.
10. Knowledge of sizing and selection of motor-reducer
combinations.
11. Experience with measurement and vision system is preferred.
12. Knowledge of advanced technologies in robotics, AGV, ASRS, AI
(machine learning) preferred.
13. Proficient in Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, Project,
PowerPoint, Teams)
14. Experience in Project Team Leadership or Project Management is
preferred.
15. Detailed installation planning including risk assessment,
timeline and step by step installation.
16. Management of internal and external contractors to accomplish
objectives.
17. Managing correction of equipment non-conformities and
acceptance.
18. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and
resolve issues.
19. Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks
simultaneously.
20. Ability to network and develop positive relationship with team
members and internal partners.
