Job Summary Work Shift 1 - First Shift The Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager develops and implements the continuous improvement strategy for the segment. This position promotes and supports lean activities and the development of a lean culture by leading, defining, and developing strategic activities for continuous improvement initiatives while following and helping established standards across the company. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Lead through the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations . 2. Lead, facilitate, and/or participate in CI activities. Develop and track metrics related to improvement activities. Develop long-term and short-term improvement strategies for the segment. 3. Promote lean activities in support of culture change and plan, prepare, lead, execute, review, and audit kaizen events. Promote standard processes, improved flow, waste elimination and support managing for daily improvement (MDI) activities. 4. Develop or assist in the development of material s, tools, and presentations in support of lean activities or kaizen related issues. Education and/or Experience - Bachelor s degree in Business or Engineering. - Minimum 7 years of experience in manufacturing with 5 years of experience in lean enterprise and at least 3 years of leadership and managing experience. Other Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of Toyota Production System, financial tools, scientific method, logical thought process, lean principles, and business software. - Ability to effectively manage lean or Kaizen events and supporting resources. - Ability to attain performance measurements regarding Kaizen event evaluations, Kaizen event follow up item completion, Kaizen event sustainment audit results, event preparation, and involvement of employees not previously engaged in lean. - Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness. - Demonstration of effective and professional presentation techniques and skills, strong leadership, teambuilding and motivating skills and abilities. - Ability to think creatively and strategically and take a proactive and aggressive goal setting approach to assist in developing a lean culture. - Ability to gain respect by peers, subordinates and executive team based on results achieved. - Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to people on different levels. - Ability to work effectively in a fast paced and rapidly changing work environment. - Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with customers and co-workers and maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness. - Ability to understand problems from a customer's perspective and produce a mutually acceptable result leading to improved quality for the customer and efficiency in the process. - Builds and cultivates positive relationships with individuals at all levels and areas of the organization. - Ability to influence others without formal authority. Partners well across functions and groups in all areas of the business. Able to effectively negotiate and discuss areas of concern. Travel Up to 25% domestic and/or international travel by car or plane may be required.
