Job Description:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
This position is responsible for providing turbine combustion mechanical engineering and technical expertise in support of sales, engineering, operations, etc. and will oversee Production operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes and production teams
--- Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
--- Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards
--- Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
--- Confers with engineering and manufacturing teams to determine documentation requirements, product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
--- Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions
--- Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards
--- Assist in coordinating successful completion of engineering projects including quals and quotes
--- Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential

SPECIFIC DUTIES ASSIGNED:
FPQ's (First Piece Qualifications) & New Product Development
--- Understand/learn/know customer and business requirements for product qualifications
--- Develop detailed plan and timeline to meet project and qualification goals
--- Write, create and assemble multi-sectioned product qualification binders
--- Bubble drawings
--- Populate CAV (Characteristics & Accountability Verification) forms
--- Collect material, process and conformance certifications, charts, etc
--- Complete customer specified qualification sections
--- Manage multiple FPQs with overlapping deadlines to successful timely completion
--- Work closely with internal departments i.e. Purchasing, Planning, etc.
--- Interact with and participate in customer qualification status reports, updates and meetings

Manufacturing & Sales Support
--- Understand/know capability of manufacturing operations
--- Support manufacturing operations team i.e. provide input for routers and process flow
--- Develop and recommend resources and methods for material and processes
--- Track, evaluate and provide project costs including time, material and processes
--- Assist in sales quotations providing time and material estimates and information
--- Communicate, interface and meet with customer representatives in support of sales
--- Lead and monitor employees to ensure safe and effective productivity.
--- Maintain clean, healthy, efficient and safe work environment including equipment, facility, etc.
--- Confer daily with Operations Manager and team to determine production requirements and goals
--- Monitor schedules and expedite work-in-process to assure workflow will meet customer needs
--- Provide employee training, coaching and development; address and resolves employee issues
--- Manage and promote quality and safety initiatives including Quality Circles and Safety Training
--- Manage departmental performance measures; provides regular progress reports to manager.
--- Maintain and anticipate proper inventory levels, outside service needs, etc.
--- Tracks absenteeism and time-keeping, evaluate cycle times and processes for efficiency

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
--- Travel to company facilities, customer sites, sub-tier vendor locations, etc. as needed
--- Promote and support all Lean Manufacturing, Quality, ISO and Safety initiatives
--- Perform other related duties as trained and assigned


QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
--- Must have excellent organizational, communication and project management skills
--- Must be able to handle information in a confidential manner
--- Must be able to read, write and speak in the English language and be understood
--- Must be able to interact diplomatically with people - both in person and through all mediums
--- Must be able to read, interpret, understand and create drawings, routers and process specs
--- Must be able to manage and successfully complete multiple tasks and projects
--- Must be able to work independently and make good, sound and timely decisions
--- Must be proficient and accurate in the use of company computer software programs
--- Must be able to understand and fully support the company Mission, Safety and Quality policies

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
--- Minimum verifiable (4) year degree in Mechanical, Process or Applications engineering
--- Preferred 3-5 years of applicable turbine engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
--- Proficiency in Computer-Aided-Design(CAD), Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Failure Effects Mode Analysis (FEMA) desired

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
--- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met
--- Physical activity includes:
--- Frequently - sitting, walking, standing, typing, assembling papers, reading, talking
--- Occasional - bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to forty pounds
--- Must be able to safely operate an automobile for short and long distances; travel by plane

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
--- Routinely performs activities in lighted/ventilated areas including factory and office settings.
--- May occasionally be subject to changes in temperature and exposure to dust.
--- Will be exposed to uncontrolled environmental conditions during driving.
--- Will work in a normally acceptable office environment, with no abnormal hazards or risks.
