This position opening is to be located at our Greenville, SC location.

Headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina and with manufacturing facilities in Florida, Georgia, and Virginia, Metromont is one of the largest privately-owned precast concrete manufacturers in the United States. Our primary market segments include: schools, office buildings, data centers, parking structures, industrial plants, mixed-use structures, and stadiums. Metromont has built more than 50 stadiums, including seven NFL stadiums, 15 sports arenas, over 30 total precast multi-family structures, and more than 1,000 parking structures.

Position Description

Manager Description

- Own outbound transportation strategy roadmap.

- Manage outbound trucking tactical execution management.

- Monitor, communicate and drive improvements around outbound trucking metrics/performance

- Own outbound trucking equipment strategies (trailers, trailer equipment, life cycle management, inspections, maintenance, etc.)

- Own trucking equipment specifications

- Manage trucking equipment acquisitions and disposal

- Work closely with Plant Maintenance on trucking equipment budgets and costs

- Manage all logistics related contracts

- Work with plants to develop best possible inbound batch plant material hauling agreements

- Develop inbound material strategies on parcel, LTL and truckload shipments

- Develop minority, disadvantaged and veteran outbound hauling options based on region

- Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations

Position Requirements

Characteristics:
Must be able to see the bigger picture of Metromont logistic needs and work in the strategic space of solutions (equipment, services, people, flatbed market, etc.)
Must have a solid understanding of governance around trucking - load limitations and permitting, driver requirements, equipment mandates, etc.
Ability to work under pressure
Must have experience in the trucking industry managing daily activity in scheduling, dispatching and coordinating maintenance of fleets
Must have a clear understanding of cost drivers and market trends in the trucking/logistics industry
Detail oriented, data driven decision maker able to also understand soft cost in data
Ability to drive projects through closure with follow up sustainment support (long term ownership)
Able to lead a team through a process, gaining all team member involvement/participation
Well-developed sense of judgment regarding quality, safety, delivery and cost
Strong organizational and prioritization skill
Strong work ethic
Skilled at win-win negotiation and conflict resolution
Demonstrated productivity in a team-oriented environment
Willingness to adapt and support change management
Ability to create unique, untraditional solutions through creative thinking
Must lead by example
Able to adapt to changes in work schedules, tasks, or processes
Values and demonstrates safe working behaviors
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 15 years' experience in transportation industry in increasing responsibility roles
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, eMail)
Strong understanding of telematics/tracking software capability
Experience with PC Miller or other mileage programs
Contract development, negotiation, and implementation experience
