Job Description:

Job Title: Director of Information Systems Function: The person in this position is responsible for the smooth-functioning of the District's information systems applications, the integrity of the associated data, the development and enhancement of applications, and the support services. This position is also the backup for the Executive Director of Educational Technology Services. The Executive Director of Educational Technology Services supervises all instructional, assessment, and administrative technology, telecommunications, and Information Systems/Academic computing applications; evaluates user needs; and makes recommendations about automation of educational and information systems to achieve district student achievement goals and needs in a cost-effective manner. Responsibilities: Take a leadership role in creating and implementing the district plan for the acquisition, development, implementation, and support of information technology systems. Understand the district budget, budgeting process, and spending process, and work within this system to secure adequate resources for technical computing. Disseminate technology-related information throughout the district via news bulletins, electronic presentations at district and building level staff meetings, etc. Continue to grow as a professional educational technology leader. Lead the creation, implementation, and monitoring of application development processes and procedures to ensure data quality and system functionality. Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of information systems including software revisions, bug fixes, and configuration changes. Effectively supervise the Information Systems group. Work in collaboration with district administrators, school principals, and information technology coordinators to develop, implement, evaluate, and update the District Technology Plan. Promote technology integration at the school and district levels. Work in collaboration with facilities' staff to provide appropriate infrastructure to support District Technology and Strategic Plan in new and renovated facilities. Provide software, computing, network, and programming services in support of the District's instructional activities. Provide accurate and timely information to support decision-making at the school and district levels. Develop and monitor departmental budget and assist in preparing the annual budget for technology. Recommend changes to expand services and increase productivity. Follow federal and state laws as well as school board policies. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in computer science, education, business administration, public administration, or related field; or extensive professional experience in information technology and telecommunications management. Demonstrated knowledge in networks and systems design and in managing information technology and telecommunications services in a business agency or preferably in a K12 school system. Demonstrated knowledge, competence, and research skills in all aspects of current and emerging information technology and telecommunications management. Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience managing software acquisition, software development, software implementation, and software. Minimum of 8 years demonstrated expertise in project management, application development, and application support. Experience in supervision of application development and support staff. Experience with Infor ERP and PowerSchool SIS desired. Experience in application development and management. Proven leader with prior management experience. Proven ability to master new software. Must be team oriented and experienced in functioning as team leader in a team environment.
