Registered Nurse - Oncology – UHC Staffing Registered Nurse - Oncology Location: Asheville, NC Start Date: 01-26-2026 End Date: 04-27-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Rotating schedule; Day shift 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM. Includes weekends (staff required to work 6 weekend days per schedule); rare on-call. Roles & Responsibilities Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 24-bed Oncology/Women's Surgical unit Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other treatments safely and according to protocol Assess patients regularly and intervene to manage symptoms and complications Document care thoroughly and accurately in Cerner to ensure continuity and quality Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members including physicians, CNAs and unit coordinators to optimize patient outcomes Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning with clarity and empathy Participate in unit initiatives, safety practices and quality improvement efforts Qualifications Active RN license (required) Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (as listed in the role) BLS certification (required) Chemo certification preferred and will be considered a strong asset Comfort working with med-surg and oncology patient populations and standard unit equipment Education Active RN license (required) BLS certification (required) Knowledge & Skills Proven experience with Cerner EMR for documentation and medication administration Ability to manage patient ratios of approximately 1:4 to 1:5 while delivering quality care Familiarity with oncology procedures and occasional pelvic exams, echo and thoracentesis Strong teamwork, communication and prioritization skills in a fast-paced unit Detail-oriented medication administration and safe chemotherapy handling practices Benefits Generous travel perks and support to make your contract smooth and enjoyable Housing assistance and travel reimbursement to get you settled quickly Licensure assistance and certification reimbursement to keep your credentials current Comprehensive benefits options including medical, dental and vision choices Paid time off so you can recharge after meaningful work Access to retirement saving plans and life insurance for long-term security Professional development support and CEU opportunities to grow your oncology expertise A welcoming, team-oriented unit that values collaboration and your input Travel Perks: Explore Asheville, NC Asheville is a fantastic playground for a travel nurse.
