time management skills Description: The RN Infection Preventionist
is a registered professional nurse who functions under the
direction of the Infection Prevention Manager or Director of
Quality. Responsibilities include hospital surveillance to identify
healthcare-related infections and ensuring public reporting for
mandated healthcare-associated infections. The Infection
Preventionist assists with the development of policies and
procedures and provides education to patients and team members.
Regular audits and physical rounds of facility departments are
conducted to monitor Infection Prevention practices, including
construction, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization. Core
Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Conduct surveillance for
healthcare-associated infections and epidemiologically significant
organisms as specified in the Infection Prevention Plan. Utilize
current definitions and apply them consistently. Collect,
aggregate, and analyze data accurately. Maintain accurate
surveillance records and ensure data is entered in repositories.
Report diseases to local and state public health authorities as
required by law. Develop and deliver staff education programs.
Provide patient and family education on infection prevention
practices as requested by clinical caregivers. Collaborate with
management to review and implement system policies and procedures.
Assist in annual risk assessment, goal development, and
surveillance plan evaluation. Contribute to the evaluation of new
products. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all
