CT Tech Location: Augusta, GA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,295 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: CT Tech Profession: CT Tech Specialty: Imaging Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in Radiology required, less than 1 year experience in CT preferred License: ARRT Radiography, ARRT Computed Tomography, Basic Life Support Certifications: Required certifications upon hire Must-Have: Excellent communication skills Ability to function independently and as part of a team Detail-oriented with the capacity to multitask Competent in all aspects of CT, patient positioning, exposure factors, and radiation protection Description: Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging services and positions patients for procedures. Verifies proper clinician orders for procedures. Obtains complete clinical history and gathers examination data while assessing for contraindicating conditions. Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media to prevent patient harm. Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and that right and left markers are utilized appropriately. Reviews CT/radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients. Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of crash carts and maintenance of life support equipment. Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed. Observes patient conditions and properly evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary. Verifies the correct identity of patients using two unique identifiers before performing procedures. Ensures patient privacy and comfort, maintaining dignity throughout exams. Demonstrates competence in determining and applying appropriate procedures based on patients' ages. Organizes schedules, time, and priorities to accomplish activities within designated time frames. Follows physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams. Demonstrates proficiency with loading and operating power injections. Uses critical thinking skills and engages in dialogue with patients and their families. Understands and documents preprocedural verification and Time Out processes when appropriate. Demonstrates pre-and post-procedural care. Preps the patient for procedures and demonstrates understanding of sterile techniques. Maintains competency with venipuncture. Demonstrates the ability to adjust techniques to ensure minimum radiation exposure while maintaining image quality. Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisors for timely correction. Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policies. Patiently explains the purpose and nature of exams to patients to minimize anxiety and facilitate cooperation. Addresses patient questions and concerns satisfactorily before proceeding with procedures. Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees. Provides patients with preparatory instructions and explanations of procedures. Ensures documentation is concise, legible, and uses precise terminology. Reads emails daily and follows through with assigned tasks. Completes mandatory departmental education without prompting. Consistently produces acceptable images as evidenced by feedback and quality audits. Checks equipment for proper calibration and operational deficiencies before use. Sends all studies to PACS immediately after completion. Completes all studies in RIS before finishing in PACS. Restocks linens and supplies, maintaining a clean and orderly department. Transports patients and assists them on and off procedure tables. Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered. Applies shielding and immobilization devices as necessary. Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed. Performs clerical and support duties when necessary to ensure continuity of services. Informs supervisors of responsibilities and any potential problems. Maintains an individual productivity rate comparable to other coworkers. Operates all work stations associated with the CT department. Maintains Joint Commission standards and other regulatory agency standards. Takes call when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
