Strong communication skills Description: This position is for a
Registered Nurse specializing in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care
Unit. The CVICU cares primarily for adult to geriatric patients
with various cardiac conditions. The unit specializes in taking
care of patients with LVADs, balloon pumps, SWAN catheters,
temporary pacemakers, femoral and venous sheaths, arterial lines,
TR bands, and patients on CRRT. The unit has a capacity of 10 beds
with an average daily census of 7 patients. Patients are typically
assigned a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:2. Multidisciplinary
rounds occur Monday through Friday at 10 am with an intensivist
present in the unit. Nurses are responsible for titrating
medications, monitoring patients closely, and adhering to protocols
for specific procedures. Effective communication between nurses,
physicians, and the care team is crucial for optimal patient care.
The patient population includes those recovering from AAA repairs
and other cardiovascular surgeries. It is essential to maintain a
close observation for those patients requiring specific positioning
post-procedure. Candidates should be able to demonstrate expertise
in interpreting dysrhythmias, managing patients with multisystem
organ dysfunction, and other critical care skills. The role
requires adherence to infection prevention protocols, performing
phlebotomy, and monitoring ventilated patients as needed. This
position includes working with specialized equipment such as CRRT
machines, balloon pumps, and LVADs. Ideal candidates will have
experience in a high-acuity unit, carrying out advanced nursing
