Job Summary We deliver a software defined secure infrastructure to build enterprise storage products with a highly available, scale-out architecture that powers NetApp's flagship operating system, ONTAP, within FAS, software defined and cloud environments. We are looking for a Software Engineer who has strong coding skills. You need to be creative, team-oriented, technology savvy, and driven to produce results. As a Software Engineer working in NetApp's ONTAP Software and Systems Group (OSSG), you'll regularly participate internally across functions within a development team focused on delivering high-quality functionality of software defined infrastructure in ONTAP. Job Responsibility • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential. • Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards. • Possess sufficient technical knowledge and experience to pick up new expertise quickly with guidance from a technical leader. • Strong aptitude for learning new technologies. • A strong understanding of complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices. • Ability to estimate work completion required to build an overall predictable plan. • Follow standard engineering principles and practices. • Resourceful in applying creative ideas to solve problems. Interaction: • Work effectively with staff to VP level employees within the function and the technical team on assigned projects. • There may be communication with employees in other functions within Business Units as required. • Work independently. • Successfully convey information to stakeholders at many levels related to the position. • Participate as a proactive contributor and subject matter expert on team projects. • Demonstrate favorable results through coaching and influencing others. Job Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of software development experience. • C++, Kernel, and Python experience (Must be strong in C++). • Experience with multi-threading. • Must be a strong debugger. • Experience with the software development lifecycle (design, implementation, testing). • Experience working with file systems, distributed systems, client-server programming, multi-threaded applications, and operating systems such as FreeBSD and Linux. • A strong understanding of basic to complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices. • Experience with object-oriented systems programming. • Ability to work under limited supervision and direction. • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards. • Analyze complicated software subsystems and design an automated strategy to test the subsystems. • Collaborate within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high quality standards. • May work with teams across the company in problem-solving and design efforts. • The individual will begin to develop a technical specialty. Qualifications: • A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is preferred. • Minimum of 10 years of software development experience. Compensation: The target salary range for this position is 187,000 - 278,300 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies.
