Job Description SummaryThis is a hands-on control engineering role supporting the Greenville Technology Lab (GTL) mission executing critical combustion and mechanical test programs while acquiring high-quality design data that will facilitate the development of world-class products for power generation. This role is focused not only on daily controls activities for near-term component testing, but also on facility upgrade projects, and longer-term automation projects to achieve the vision of the testing automation roadmap.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities+ Support daily operation of test labs to ensure customer requirements are satisfied + Be responsible for PLC & HMI programming including change and revision control + Develop models of facility media systems + Develop design schedule for projects/programs with milestones and cross-functional work task assignments + Design, document, and commission control panels + Develop Technology Roadmaps to clearly communicate timing, resources, and funding needs. + Be accountable for specification, configuration & procurement of process control sensors, servo systems, and machine controls + Provide support to facility design engineering team with respect to expansions, modifications, and upgrades in support of test programs + Develop and implement facility process controls and automation + Be responsible for operational compliance with ISO requirements + Be responsible for full compliance with GE and regulatory EHS policies + Maintain a safe work environment with a goal of zero injuries + Develop and implement a continuous process improvement program + Participate as a presenter or reviewer in internal and external technical and program reviewsRequired Qualifications+ Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college + 3 years experience in engineering + 2 years experience in controls development and implementationDesired Characteristics+ Programming expertise and high-level programming languages (C coding and Python scripting is a plus) as well as experience or knowledge of Linux Environment + Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills. + 3+ yrs experience in gas turbine controls development and physical implementation + Control system design experience (GE family of PLCs is a plus) + Software proficiency in Wonderware HMI, Proficy Machine Edition, and AutoCAD + Experience with various communications protocols including OPC, Modbus, Profibus, EGD, and Profinet. + Strong thermo/fluid background and knowledge of compressible flow relationships, valve sizing, and basic process engineering + 120VAC, 24VDC, 4-20mA control circuits design. Motor starters, solenoid valve actuation, control valves, various process transmitters (Pressure, Flow Temperature, Differential Pressure.) + Familiarity with three phase power distribution up to 480VAC is a plus Must be eligible to work in the US without Sponsorship.
