Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary This position performs high quality EEGs (routine and video) and long term epilepsy monitoring. Has the ability to scan, correlate, and clip study information. Facilitates all aspects of study completion and reporting within the department. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all healthcare personnel. The Neurodiagnostic EMU Technologist II demonstrates a thorough knowledge of EEG/neurophysiologic identification in the EMU (EEG lab as needed) and remote locations in the hospital. Teaches and directs the work of other staff and students as required. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager of the EEG department. Takes call on a rotating basis. Assumes reponsibility for designated areas and procedures Accountabilities * Performs high quality EEGs including awake and asleep studies, video EEGs, cerebral silence, photic stimulation, portable and long term monitoring EEGs. -20% * Independently performs calibrations and evaluations and adjusts the EEG instrument to the proper technical standards with emphasis on sensitivity, time axis, and mechanical/electrical baselines in order to obtain top-quality EEG recordings. - 10% * Performs EEGs in accordance with 10-20 system outlined by ABRET. Performs EEGs in accordance with the Medical Director guidelines, departmental policies, and departmental procedures on patients of all ages. 10% * Understands how to interpret EEGs, identifies the different types of seizures, and documents this information in the recording when the patient is having an event. -10% * Communicates clearly with interdisciplinary team, including physicians, to contain pertinent and appropriate information regarding patient status. -10% * Monitors and reasseses patient status in reponse to treatment and goal achievement. Recognizes and responds to patient medical emergencies and seizure onset. - 10% * Maintains a high skill level of knowledge of EEG through ongoing education and sharing that information with staff members. - 10% * Assists EEG techs with technical issues arising during remote monitoring or EEG setups. Maintains equipment and makes minor adjustments as indicated. - 10% * Provides insight and ideas on how to improve staff morale, quality control, education, and customer service. Promotes individual professional growth and development meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency. - 20% Minimum Requirements * High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal Neurodiagnostics program preferred. * 2 years- Neurodiagnostic experience Licensure BLS certification Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities * Must be detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent oral and written communication skills Work Shift Variable (United States of America) Location Greenville Memorial Med Campus Facility 1008 Greenville Memorial Hospital Department 10087168 Epilepsy Monitoring Share your talent with us!
