Be the difference.Job SummaryThis job functions as a liaison between the patient/family and the hospital in providing information, support, and interpretation of hospital policies and procedures and in resolving concerns and complaints. All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Palmetto Health's values of compassion, dignity, excellence, integrity, and teamwork.AccountabilitiesGreets and assists visitors/family members. Visits with families and patients to provide information and assess needs.Assists in improving patient satisfaction while keeping staff informed of any potential problems and anticipates families' needs. Resolves issues before they become major sources of concern.Investigates and follows-up on concerns, complaints, grievances and suggestions. Follows CMS guidelines in responding to grievances. Keeps accurate records of concerns.Helps navigate patients and families through the health care system by answering questions and facilitating communication with appropriate staff and/or physicians. Works closely with staff at all levels to ensure patient/family satisfaction. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Acts as a liaison between patients, patients' relatives, and the healthcare organization.Performs a wide range of duties to provide a positive experience for patients, family members, and visitors during the patient's hospitalization/visit.Assists in training and supervision of volunteers.Assists in other areas of the hospital in the event of an immediate need.Supervisory/Management ResponsibilitiesThis is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, director or executive.Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in a related field required. Required Certifications, Registries, LicensesNone. OptionalIn lieu of the experience and/or educational requirements indicated above a combination of education, training, and/or experience will be considered an equivalent substitution: Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Other Required Skills and ExperienceAbility to work with diverse people, move about freely, work with families of critically ill patients, hear and orally communicate with good verbal skills and have excellent writing skills. Other Qualifications or ExperienceNAAdditional In Lieu of StatementTeam members employed in this job prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered under prior educational and experience requirements. In addition, team members must be certification eligible and will have one year to obtain required certification(s).
