Job Description:

Under the direction and guidance of the R&D Manger, the R&D scientist is responsible for product development and technical service for the polymeric microspheres and water-based polyurethane dispersion businesses. The R&D scientist will be responsible to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision while promoting a safe work environment. The scientist will engage in laboratory work to expand, coat, and test the microspheres as well as plan, lead and analyze production trials. For the polyurethanes, scientist will engage in laboratory work to synthesize and test the microspheres as well as plan, lead and analyze production trialsThis position offers the potential for career development with acquisition of new skills. A high degree of personal initiative and advanced interpersonal skills are needed to perform this job effectively. The position requires interaction with other employees as well as suppliers and customers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities _(Additional Responsibilities as Assigned)_ Work collaboratively with internal team colleagues to create and commercialize new products as identified by management Lead the design and development of microspheres and polyurethanes to meet the requirements of customers working with Sales and Marketing, Operations, and other Chase colleagues, as well as directly with customers as needed. Maintain detailed laboratory records. Responsible for the creation of project plans and timelines for assigned projects, providing timely updates and other reports as directed, and conducting presentations (internal and external) as needed. Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing and other Product Development staff as needed. Provide technical knowledge and leadership in microspheres related raw materials available to Chase, related processes, test methodologies and other analyses. Comply with the Chase Design Control Procedure requirements Comply with all Chase Safety requirements. Work with EHS as needed to support regulatory compliance. Education BS or higher degree in Chemistry, Material Science, or related field. Knowledge and Experience Must have 2 years minimum hands-on industry experience in a chemistry lab Self-motivated and able to operate independently in a fast-paced environment Work collaboratively with other departments and R&D colleagues to achieve successful commercialization of projects within the timelines required.
