SummaryProvides direct evaluation and treatment services to
patients according to principles and practices of Speech/Language
Pathology. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team including
ENT surgeons, in the design and implementation of the patient's
individualized plan of care. Speech-language pathologists address
typical and atypical communication and swallowing in the areas of
speech, resonance, voice, fluency and language. Provides program
development support and mentor-ship.Accountabilities
- Provides intervention and support services for children and
adults diagnosed with speech and language disorders; that
includes:
- a. providing intervention and support services for children and
adults diagnosedwith auditory processing disorders;
- b. using instrumentation (e.g., video fluoroscopy,
electromyography,nasendoscopy, stroboscopy, endoscopy, nasometry,
computer technology) toobserve, collect data, and measure
parameters of communication andswallowing or other upper
aerodigestive functions;
- c. counseling individuals, families, coworkers, educators, and
other persons inthe community regarding acceptance, adaptation, and
decision making aboutcommunication and swallowing;
- d. facilitating the process of obtaining funding for equipment
and services relatedto difficulties with communication and
swallowing;
- e. selecting, fitting, and establishing effective use of
prosthetic/adaptive devicesfor communication and swallowing (e.g.,
Tracheoesophageal prostheses,speaking valves, electro larynges;
this service does not include the selection orfitting of sensory
devices used by individuals with hearing loss or otherauditory
perceptual deficits.
- f. providing services to modify or enhance communication
performance (e.g.accent modification, transgender voice, care and
improvement of theprofessional voice, personal/professional
communication effectiveness).

- Assists with care and maintenance of department environment,
equipment and supplies. 10%
- Performs appropriate initial ST evaluations and re-evaluations
to include the following:
- Provides clinical services and develop a plan of care that
include the following:
- * prevention and pre-referral
- * screening
- * assessment/evaluation
- * consultation
- * diagnosis
- * treatment, intervention, management
- * counseling
- * collaboration
- * documentation
- * referral30%
- Serves as case manager, service delivery coordinator, and
member of collaborative teams (e.g., individualized family service
plan andindividualized education program teams, transition planning
teams);15%
- Engages in prevention and advocacy activities related to human
communication and swallowing. Example activities include:
- a. improving communication wellness by promoting healthy
lifestyle practicesthat can help prevent communication and
swallowing disorders
- b. providing early identification and early intervention
services forcommunication disorders
- c. educating and providing in-service training to families,
caregivers, and otherprofessionals
- 15%Minimum EducationMaster's Degree-Speech Language Pathology
from an ASHA accredited program

lieu of the Above Minimum RequirementsIn lieu of licensure and CCC
only, will accept SC Intern Certificate during Clinical Fellowship
