Function/General Purpose of PositionThe X-Ray Technician performs
digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by
providers. The X-Ray Technician is a multi-skilled clinical
professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in
patient care under the direction of the provider.Essential Job
FunctionsSafely performs provider ordered radiographic
examinations, including but not limited to proper patient
positioning, immobilization, and utilizing appropriate radiation
protection.Sets up and adjusts supportive and immobilization
equipment and devices as required by individual cases. Positions
and handles patients with a high degree of safety and
professionalismAccurately documents patient encounters within
Electronic Medical Record (EMR)Determines and selects proper
electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray
tube, and equipmentMaintains clinical and administrative skills to
meet patient care and daily operational needs. Collect patient
specimens and runs point of care lab tests. Travel to other
facilities for BSMH providers or adjusting work hours to meet
patient care needs as directed by the manager may also be
required.Directs and practices sterile technique to prevent
cross-contamination of diseaseReports immediately any malfunction,
necessary adjustments or repairs of equipment to supervisorOther
duties include but not limited to ordering supplies, lab and
diagnostic tests, disposes of contaminated supplies, patient
registration, scheduling, phone triage, cash handling,
check-in/check-out and performing scribing duties as needed

CertificationCertification and Registration with ARRT (American
Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (required)State Licensure
(preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being
performed)BLS Basic Life Support American Heart Association
(preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to
direct patient care) (required)EducationAssociate's from an ARRT
(American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited
institute (preferred)Experience1 year experience in radiation
safety and patient care (preferred)Experience with Radiology
Information System (preferred)TrainingEPIC Electronic Health Record
(EHR) (preferred)Picture archiving communication system (PACS)
(preferred)Other Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMedical Terminology
and the ability to use standard office equipment, requiredOne year
of Medical Assisting experience, preferredStrong oral and written
communication skills, and an ability to collaboratively work with
patients, families and teams within a high-volume environment,

without prior instruction or direction, preferredDemonstrates the
knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the
